Sunroof Accomplishes What Point-blank Pistol Shots Don't

More proof that real life is its own parody: how ridiculous is it that the Musharraf folks are putting out the ol' "she hit her head on the sunroof and died" routine? Given the ridiculous Three Stooges-quality cover-up, it does seem more credible that Musharraf had her killed, or at least that Al Qaida wasn't acting sans help. The very least you can ask of a cover-up is that it cover something up - Pakistanis have a right to be insulted at the level of intelligence their government attributes to them, and I feel insulted for them.

Most surprising too is how the October bombing didn't change Bhutto's security measures. It's said she'd listen to only actionable intelligence, which is understandable in the sense that the unactionable stuff must've been legion and our intelligence isn't given the greatest credibility after Iraq. The tragedy is that it seems such an eminently preventable tragedy, at least after the October bombing. It's as if the bad guys hosed their chance...but then got another one. But then destruction is easy, constructing is hard.
