Weekend Beer Review

Ain't nothin' better than that first sip of craft beer while listening to Little Jimmy Dickens on the Friday Night Opry. Despite forgetting to buy Sierra Nevada Pale, I found a Sam Smith Winter Welcome in the 'fridge and found it darn welcoming. It's a red-headed stepchild red, refreshment personified in a pint glass, but nothing compared to...drumroll:

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout.

Earthy as the day is long, it pours a good pint. The taste has legs, or rather it's like a curve ball that starts on the inside and finishes up and away. It's got more flavors than Heinz. Hoover your mouth and nose over the rim of the glass and inhale the coffee bean-ish aroma. It's quintessentially light while at the same time dark and roasty.
