Brennan would seem an unlikely advocate for the poor. A church-going Catholic, his spacious office is a shrine to power; there are photos of him with presidents and governors, a personal blessing from the late Pope John Paul II and plaques recognizing his efforts.Update: I emailed the author and he responded, saying that he didn't mean to infer that Catholics are not concerned about the poor and that the paragraph was clumsily worded.
