Back to Kellmeyer's Designed to Fail

Riveting read of course, and full of piquant details and unique connections.

One anecdote is particularly tragic given the misery created by the priest abuse scandal. The damage could've been greatly limited if there would've been obedience of American bishops to the Bishop of Rome, specifically to that bishop of Rome the secular media fawns over, Pope John XXIII:
Meanwhile, the problem of homosexuality in the seminaries had become so serious that Pope John XXIII directed the Sacred Congregation of Religious to issue "Instruction on the Choice and Formation of Candidates to the State of Perfection and to Holy Orders" (issued 1/23/1961). The document expressly forbade the ordination of homosexual men. Rome does not produce a document except to address an obvious, serious problem. In America, the document was virtually ignored.
