Duluth, MN--Dubbing him "the Apostle to the Couch Potatoes" God chose Carl Heissen today to "pray, watch television, check out the sports page and in general stay in touch with popular culture."
Carl is satisfied with his calling.
"I've been called to pray and watch TV. To be honest, I was expecting something a bit more challenging, a bit more painful," he said, "but God never gives us more than we can handle and I guess he's telling me I can't handle much!" Carl quickly added, "but if I have to watch American Idol that will certainly be a pain. Especially the audition episodes."
Mentioning St. Therese of Lisieux, Carl says that if she called herself a "little flower" he might not even qualify for dandelion status but that "it's enough that I'm fulfilling my calling".
