The CTS Bible

This sounds like a magnificent Bible translation - the best of the Jerusalem Bible (i.e. everything but the Psalms) with the Grail Psalms.

Timothy at Catholic Bibles writes, "Most of you in the United States who pray the Liturgy of the Hours will be familiar with them." And indeed I love the Pslams in the LoH.

For a long time I've had my eye on the Ignatius Bible but now am leaning toward the CTS.

Is it the original JB or the New Jerusalem Bible? We're not fond of jiggered-gender language around here.

The original JB, which was a selling point with me too.

Reading at the link you give and at the CTS site, I have to say it is not completely clear they are talking about the original JB translation--they just call it the "Jerusalem" translation, which, it seems to me, might be the NJB these days. I would be glad to hear otherwise for certain.

Yes I was going by what Timothy at the Bible blog said (i.e. text is the Jerusalem bible; since he's a bible guru I assumed he was careful with translation titles).

But I ordered one so when I get it I'll check and let everyone know for sure. Thanks Jim.

Mine came today and it is the Jerusalem Bible text, not the New Jerusalem. :-)
